Diwali 2026 website and Google Maps checklist for Bangalore shops

What to change on your website and your Google Business Profile before Dhanteras and Diwali, and the date to have each step done by.

Short answer

Dhanteras is Friday 6 November and Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026. By 31 October, put a Diwali offer page on your website with clear start and end dates and a WhatsApp order button. By 2 November, set special hours on your Google Business Profile, and by 3 November publish an offer post that links to that page. Then make sure your website shows the same hours and phone number.

When are Dhanteras and Diwali in 2026?

Dhanteras is on Friday 6 November 2026 and Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) is on Sunday 8 November 2026. The festival days run from 6 to 11 November:

Diwali 2026 dates, from Drik Panchang and the Karnataka 2026 holiday list.
Day Date
Dhanteras (Dhantrayodashi) Friday 6 November 2026
Naraka Chaturdashi and Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) Sunday 8 November 2026
Govardhan Puja Monday 9 November 2026
Balipadyami (Karnataka Deepavali holiday) Tuesday 10 November 2026
Bhai Dooj Wednesday 11 November 2026

In Karnataka the Deepavali government holiday is Balipadyami on Tuesday 10 November, and Naraka Chaturdashi falls on Sunday 8 November, the same day as Lakshmi Puja.

Decide now which of 6 to 11 November you’ll open late, close early or close, because every step below depends on it.

The Diwali checklist, with dates

Finish your website by 31 October, your Google Business Profile by 2 November and your offer posts by 3 November, then keep everything current through the festival week. Each step has a date and a reason.

By Saturday 31 October: website

  1. Publish a Diwali offer page on your own site (what it needs) with the start and end dates in plain text. Every other step links to it.
  2. Add a WhatsApp order button with a prefilled message that names the offer. The customer doesn’t have to type, and you know which offer they mean.
  3. Check that the hours, phone number and address on your website match your Google Business Profile exactly. Customers act on whichever they see first.
  4. State your last order date for Diwali delivery, your delivery areas in Bangalore, and your payment options. These are the questions you’ll otherwise answer one chat at a time.
  5. Run the free website check on your phone to catch slow pages or broken buttons before the rush.

By Monday 2 November: Google Business Profile

  1. Set special hours for every day from 6 to 10 November that differs from normal, including days you’re closed. Edits can take time to be reviewed.
  2. Check Edit profile, then Contact, then Chat to see whether WhatsApp chat is offered for your profile (how to check).
  3. Upload fresh photos: festive displays, gift boxes, menu specials. They show customers what’s new this season.

By Tuesday 3 November: offers

  1. Publish a Google Offer post with start and end dates and a link to your offer page. It puts the offer on your profile.
  2. Share the same offer-page link on Instagram, WhatsApp Status and your WhatsApp broadcast list. One link means one page to keep up to date.

Last-minute week, Wednesday 4 to Sunday 8 November

  1. Update the offer page daily: mark sold-out items and new stock, so nobody orders something you no longer have.
  2. Reply to WhatsApp messages and Google reviews every day. Festival customers decide quickly.
  3. Open your Business Profile every day or two and act on any notice about Google updates or suggested edits. Google gives you 4 days to accept or reject an edit that needs your review (why it matters).
  4. Post your last pickup and delivery cut-off on the offer page and in an update post, so late orders know where they stand.

After Diwali, from Wednesday 11 November

  1. Mark the offer as ended on the page. Don’t delete the URL. Reuse it next year.
  2. Check that your regular hours are showing again on Google, so customers don’t think you’re still closed.
  3. Ask happy customers for a Google review while the order is fresh in their mind.

What does a Diwali offer page on your website need?

One page on your own website that lists the offer, the price, the dates, how to order and when the last delivery is. It should include:

Why a page on your site and not only Instagram? It gives the Google post, your Instagram bio and your WhatsApp Status one link to point at, and it’s a page Google can read. The longer comparison is in WhatsApp catalog vs website.

How do I take Diwali orders on WhatsApp?

Add a WhatsApp click-to-chat link (wa.me) with a prefilled message, put it on the offer page and your Google profile, and decide who replies and by when.

WhatsApp is for orders and questions. If you want customers to pay online, the offer page can link to a checkout; on NebulaForge sites that runs through Razorpay or Stripe.

How do I set Diwali holiday hours on Google Business Profile?

Use special hours in your Business Profile for each day from 6 to 10 November that differs from your regular hours, and set them by about 2 November.

Should I post a Diwali offer on Google?

Yes. Google Business Profile has an Offer post type built for this, and it links customers straight to your offer page.

Google’s help page says an Offer post needs a title and its dates and times, and gets a “View Offer” button automatically. You can also add a description, a photo or video, a coupon code, a link and terms. Set the end date to the day the offer really ends.

There is also a test worth knowing about. Search Engine Roundtable reported on 19 October 2026, from a LinkedIn post by Ben Fisher, that Google is testing a higher position for Posts on the business panel in Search, with posts moving up and then down roughly every 3 days. Google hasn’t announced it. If the test sticks, a current offer post may be one of the first things a customer sees.

Can customers WhatsApp my business from Google Search?

In some regions, yes. Google is showing a WhatsApp button on some business listings in Search, next to Call, Directions and Website, but Google says chat is only available in select regions and hasn’t confirmed India.

How to check: open the profile editor and look for the Chat field. If it isn’t there, the WhatsApp button on your website still does the job.

Why must my website’s hours and phone match my Google profile?

Because customers act on whichever they see first, and Google uses your website as evidence when it decides whether to publish other people’s suggested edits.

Google’s help page says that when a suggested edit needs your review, you have 4 days to accept or reject it. If you don’t respond, Google may publish it if it is supported by other publicly available information, such as your business website. Some edits are applied without prior review.

So update the website the same day you change your Google special hours. For the wider profile checklist, read how Google now answers customer questions about your business.

Examples by business type

Every type of shop needs the same offer page, special hours and WhatsApp button; what changes is what goes on them. Here is a starting point for four kinds of business.

What to put on the offer page, the Google profile and the WhatsApp message, by business type.
Business On the offer page On Google Business Profile WhatsApp prefilled message
Boutique The festive collection, the alteration cut-off date, shipping outside Bangalore Special hours, photos of new stock “Hi, I’d like to see the Diwali collection. Can it be altered and delivered before Diwali?”
Sweet and gift shop Gift box sizes and prices, the bulk and corporate order cut-off, delivery areas Special hours, an Offer post with an end date “Hi, I’d like to order Diwali gift boxes. Please share sizes and delivery for my area.”
Restaurant The Diwali menu, pre-order and pickup slots, closed days Special hours, menu photos, an Offer post “Hi, I’d like to pre-order from the Diwali menu. Which pickup slots are free?”
D2C brand Offer codes, the last dispatch date for Diwali delivery, returns Website and checkout link, an Offer post linking the collection “Hi, will an order placed today reach me before Diwali?”

On a narrow screen, swipe the table sideways to see all four columns.

⧡ QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked

Diwali is on Sunday 8 November 2026. Dhanteras is on Friday 6 November, and in Karnataka the Balipadyami (Deepavali) holiday is on Tuesday 10 November.

Set special hours by about 2 November. Google says profile edits usually take up to 10 minutes to review but can sometimes take up to 30 days, so leaving it to the festival week is risky.

Google says special hours cover temporary changes or closures of up to 6 days in a row, which is enough for 6 to 10 November.

Yes, if you run an offer. One page with the offer, prices, dates, last order date and a WhatsApp button gives your Google post, Instagram and WhatsApp Status a single link to send people to.

In some regions, yes. Google lets verified profiles add a WhatsApp click-to-chat link, but says chat is available only in select regions and hasn't confirmed India, so check Edit profile, then Contact, then Chat.

Yes. Offer posts carry a title, dates and a View Offer button, and Google is testing a higher spot for posts on the business panel. That test isn't announced, so treat it as a bonus, not a promise.

Keep the URL, mark the offer as ended, and reuse the page next year.

Customers trust whichever they see first, and Google may publish a suggested edit after 4 days if information such as your website supports it. Matching details keep both correct.
